Instructional Design Job DescriptionPosition Title: Instructional Designer, Higher EducationJob Brief (Purpose)Works within the E-Learning Center to design and develop learning solutions For higher education. Essential Job FunctionsA team player who designs and develops learning solutions by:• Following industry standard (ADDIE) instructional design practices• Preparing clear learning objectives that reflect the required performance• Consulting with team and others to create instructor led, self study, and online instructional content that effectively engages the learner.Partner with Team Lead and other Design Center Instructional Designers as needed to:• Develop instructional plan/design document for review and approval• Develop project plans, timelines, and issue logs

Experience/Skills
Required Qualifications• Two to six years experience designing and developing instructor led, self-study, and web-based instruction for the higher education• Excellent interpersonal skills, especially written and oral communications skills.• Understanding of written communications and visual design.• Demonstrated ability to apply principles of adult learning, learning styles, and various instructional design approaches and processes to the learning content.• Demonstrated ability identify users needs, analyze and logically organize complex technical information, and transform complex bodies of information into professionally designed, engaging and effective programs.• Demonstrated ability to work on multiple, complex projects; strong project management and follow-up skills; strong ability to multi-task and continually prioritize changing project tasks/deliverables.• Bachelor degree or higher.Preferred Qualifications• Knowledge of e-learning software such as Flash, Dreamweaver, Captivate, synchronous tools, and Photoshop. Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Blackboard• Experience in developing storyboards, collecting and editing graphics, and building all graphic layout and navigation in an instructionally sound and highly interactive format.• Experience in testing and debugging e-learning modules for quality assurance of the course.Additional Qualifications• General knowledge of higher education.• Familiarity with classroom and adult learning.• Advanced degree in Instructional Technology, Instructional Design, or Performance Technology a plus.
