John Deere Construction and Forestry is seeking an Instrumentation Engineer in the Product Verification and Validation area to support lab and field test activities. In this position, you will:

Provide instrumentation and data acquisition support for Tier IV emissions programs.
Provide technical instrumentation support for test engineers and technicians.
Proactively research, evaluate, develop, and implement instrumentation solutions to address future test needs for sensors, data acquisition, signal conditioning, control systems, computer systems, circuit design, electric drives, and mechanical systems.
Train test engineers and technicians on test methods and instrumentation.
Participate in planning and implementation of instrumentation upgrades for facility updates and additions.
Initiate and track instrumentation orders with suppliers.


Education

Four year degree in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, related technical field or equivalent experience.



Required Skills and Experience

Experience with sensors and signal conditioning (pressure cells, strain gages, thermocouples, accelerometers, LVDTs, encoders, telemetry, CANBus, etc.)
Experience with data acquisition systems (Dataq, eDAQ, I/O Tech) and signal processing parameters.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to manage multiple tasks and projects.
Understanding of computer hardware and Microsoft Office software.



Desired Skills and Experience

Experience with higher level software language.
Understanding of control systems (open & closed loop servo systems, PLC's)
Understanding of transducer calibration techniques for ISO 9001 certification.
Understanding of engine dynamometers, load brakes, and controls.
Ability to design and layout special purpose circuits for tests.
Understanding of mechanical and hydraulic systems.
Familiarity with construction and/or forestry equipment.
