LOOKING FOR A CAREER OPPORTUNITY IN COMMUNICATIONS? GTA is seeking an Internal Communications Consultant within the Office of Communications to develop and execute internal communications strategies that promote employee understanding of - and support for - GTAs work, goals and objectives.

If hired, you will work closely with senior management and other offices to facilitate effective communication from management to employees, employees to management and across the organization. You will work in a creative and productive environment. We work as a team, do a lot of brainstorming, help each other on assignments and take pride in the professional quality of our products. We enjoy the trust of management and peers throughout the organization and genuinely enjoy working to further their goals.

Immediately, this person will be engaged in working on the following communications initiatives:

Become familiar with current internal communications plan, activities and channels.
Plan and coordinate the next meetings and activities of the employee discussion group, consisting of staff from across the organization interested in improving communication at GTA.
Coordinate, write and edit weekly Highlights feature on the intranet.
Research and recommend policies and best practices for using blogs, podcasts and other new media tools.
Become familiar with results of employee satisfaction survey and make recommendations about how to address communications issues.
Participate in implementing new 'employee portal' (enhanced intranet) and guide intranet revisions.
Support the GTA liaison to the Governor's statewide customer service initiative to promote employee awareness and adoption of new statewide customer service standards.

Major responsibilities for this position include:

Develops and guides implementation of a plan for internal communications. The plan identifies communications issues and needs and proposes strategies and activities to accomplish desired results.
Consults with senior management and employees to identify critical issues and priorities; develops approaches and messages to prevent and lessen misunderstanding about sensitive issues such as reorganization.
Creates communications products, including publications, talking points, presentations, memos and video scripts.
Manages content for GTAs intranet. Engages staff throughout the organization to contribute content. Revises and edits content. Works with communications staff responsible for designing and posting content. Recommends improvements and upgrades.
Advises senior management on strategies to recognize outstanding work, improve morale and gain employee input. Helps coordinate events and activities, such as employee meetings.
Acts as liaison with HR; assists in writing and editing sensitive announcements. Five years communications experience with three years in employee communications and two years in marketing, public relations, media or advertising environment which includes writing, editing and designing information for a web site or intranet.
Experience in working with senior management on communications messages and strategies.
