USAA is currently seeking a talented J2EE Developer for our San Antonio, Texas location.
 
As a J2EE Developer for USAA, you will participate in the evaluation, development and implementation of internal or external business solutions that meet customer needs. You will independently perform moderately complex to complex work assignments and problem resolution across systems, processes, or channels. You will perform multiple team roles (team member, team co-leader) in the delivery of technical solutions.
 
J2EE Developer Job Duties:
  • Design, develop, test, debug, tune, and release server-side and mid-tier Java code for use in large-scale distributed systems.
  • Document your code clearly and accurately, both inline and in the form of design or runbook-style documentation.
  • Effectively and constructively participate in reviews of your code as well as the code of others.
  • Coordinate your code changes and moves with multiple external groups, including security, operations, and the build team.
  • Provide support as part of rotating on-call assignments.
 Qualified candidates need to possess:
  • 3+ years’ industry software development experience in a large-scale enterprise.
  • Systems development and parallel team software development experience, including effective branch/merge approaches, object-oriented design, and development.

Preferred experience includes:

  • Multiple programming/scripting languages and operating systems.
  • Infrastructure framework development experience (i.e. creator of frameworks, not just a consumer).
  • Secure programming, using JCE, JAAS, or comparable technologies.
  • Prior work with financial services.
  • Hands-on work with IBM developer suite including Eclipse, RAD, and WID.
  • Hands-on work with IBM infrastructure software products including WAS, DB2, WPS, MQSeries, and Message Broker.
  • B.S. or graduate degree in Computer Science from a leading engineering program.
  • Verifiable success in a Tech Lead or equivalent role.
