Description
SENIOR SOFTWARE ENGINEER - JAVA

This individual performs the duties of a Senior Enterprise-level Java developer whose responsibilities include Design, Integration, and Construction of J2EE applications, production support of those applications, mentoring junior developers, and assisting project management with project operations.

Additional responsibilities include:

Must have a strong technical grounding and can demonstrate expertise in programming, using J2EE, Java Server Pages, JavaScript, XML, Sybase-stored procedures, views, and Structured Query Language. Must have experience with WebLogic Platform 8.1, including Application Server, Portal, Integration, Web Services, etc.
Defines manages and maintains application server configurations and application builds using ANT scripts.
Implements new system software or modifications to existing software with minimal impact to users.
Participates in application design sessions -- proposing and documenting technical alternatives required to achieve business objectives and assisting management with systems architecture and design.
Affects all programming, testing and analysis functions based on business requirements.
Creates detailed design specifications for subsequent programming and implementation.
Creates periodic status reports for Information Technology Software Development to present to senior management, assisting the project manager in developing project plans for major projects, and reporting time against projects on a timely basis.
Maintaining up-to-date knowledge of systems software, future trends, and directions in the software industry.
Provides support of production application environment.
Is self-sufficient, a self-starter, and innovative in solving the needs of business units.
Qualified candidates will possess the following position requirements:

A Bachelor's degree and five-plus years of computer programming experience with J2EE, experience with the Weblogic Application platform, XML, basic database knowledge, including Structured Query Language, stored procedures, etc.), or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary.
Four-plus years experience with UNIX scripts.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills for the purpose of interacting with business analysts, external consultants, Quality Assurance team, and peers in a team environment.
