Description
A major International private bank is seeking a highly motivated hands-on individual to manage its New York City based Java development team. This individual will be responsible for the development of software components for the firm’s own wealth management platform with an emphasis on timely high-quality delivery. The team currently consists of 7 onshore and 16 offshore development resources and the successful candidate will have day-to-day management responsibility for the entire team.

RESPONSIBILITIES
• Manage all aspects of the software development life-cycle, from design through deployment
• Deliver secure and scalable distributed software systems and components, on time and on budget to the highest levels of quality
• Provide technical know-how and leadership with a hands-on approach to design, development with the ability to review code and assist in problem resolution within the context of a Java J2EE and SQL systems environment
• Conduct regular design reviews with team to ensure that all software developed utilizes the best technical design and approach and conforms to previously agreed upon standards and best practices
• Own project plans, priorities and team resources across multiple projects and ensure execution against these plans to meet delivery commitments
• Manage and mentor and to the development team and be responsible for the career development of the team members
• Provide timely reporting to management on status of development, quality, and overall system performance
• Own the relationship with our internal offshore development facility and ensure that offshore developers are managed as an extension of the onshore team

Required Skills:
REQUIREMENTS
• 10 Years + experience in Software Development with at least 5 years development management/team leadership responsibility
• 5-7 years of current experience in Java J2EE technologies including EJB, Servlets, Porlets, JSP, JDBC, JNDI, RMI/IIOP, JMS, JSF, for the development of web-enabled distributed applications and services
• Knowledge of WebSphere application Servers including version 5.1 and up
• Knowledge of WebSphere portal Servers including version 6.1 and up
• A excellent working knowledge of SQL and either Sybase, UDB or Oracle
• Strong team and project management experience
• Excellent communication skills and multi-tasking capabilities
• Experience in Financial Services
EDUCATION
• Education - 4 year College Degree is required
