Description
This position is for a developer with experience and knowledge of Java and J2EE technologies. In addition, these developers need to be comfortable reading and translating VB code to Java within a J2EE environment. Exposure to reporting engines (particularly JReports), SQL, and DB2 is required. Will primarily be involved as a staff programmer maintaining and enhancing an enterprise J2EE application utilizing IBM tools and products.

Requirements:

Skills:Development experience utilizing Java and J2EE. Candidate should be well versed in the fundamentals of the Java programming language and the J2EE specification. Should have good working knowledge of Servlets, JSP, MVC frameworks, and UML and have experience with their implementation in a production environment. Experience with JMS, EJB, and web services is a highly desired skill set. Good working knowledge of SQL is imperative. Should have experience utilizing best practices and have worked with industry standard design patterns. Insurance domain business knowledge would definitely be an asset. Candidate should possess a good working knowledge of the full life cycle development process. Experience using IBM products such as Websphere Application Studio 5.xx, Websphere Application server 5.xx, and DB2 would be advantageous to the candidate. Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and Javascript are also valuable skills. Understanding the importance of documentation and knowledge of unit and integration testing at the coding level is also important. Requires either a Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, or demonstrated equivalent via experience.
