Ajilon Consulting has an opening for a Java, J2EE Development position in Aurora for a contract to perm position. This position is responsible for designing, programming, building, testing, maintenance, and release management of business application software systems. This position will also participate in defining requirements for business problems and opportunities of a diverse nature and medium to high complexity.

Essential Functions: Build core J2EE applications as well as standalone java applications that support the enterprise. Analyze and document business requirements and opportunities through research, data gathering, and brainstorming activities adhering to the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) Methodology. Design, write, modify and test program logic. Debug code, document, implement and maintain new and/or revised computer programs written from user specifications. Build applications using maintained build scripts. Perform release management of software applications to ensure the successful implementation of developed manual and automated information systems. Actively participate in and demonstrate support of all department quality initiatives and the department communication strategy. Perform project management activities identified by the Manager Application & Data Services.

Budgetary/Fiscal Responsibility: Responsible for using resources wisely to support cost-effective operation of the department. Responsible for obtaining the most cost-effective service/product when selecting vendors for outsourced services or products.

Policy and Procedure Interpretation and Development: Responsible for the development and implementation of policies and procedures as appropriate.

Job Requirements:

Education: Bachelor's degree (Computer Science preferred) and four years progressive work experience in a related field. Equivalent combination of experience and/or education may substitute with a preference for 5 years progressive relevant work experience.

Skills: Four (4) years experience developing java applications. Three (3) years experience developing complex business J2EE applications. Three (3) years experience with either Oracle, SQL Server, or SQL 2000. Two (2) experience with EJB 2.0 and JMS including entity, session, and message driven beans. Proven understanding of J2EE development patterns. Proven experience in the full SDLC.

Knowledge: Version control tools and techniques bug tracking tools and techniques Web Server, HTML, and XML n-tier software and distributed systems middle tier technologies and tools two (2) years experience with SQL, Microsoft SQL Server, Oracle, and/or other RDBMS technical writing skills project management.

Experience: Any working experience of Swing, Hibernate, Struts, Spring, JSF.
