Description
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Working with customers, business analysts and end users to gather and understand new development objectives
  • Participating in all phases of the software development lifecycle for new web application development
  • Assisting internal and external clients in conceptualizing and developing enhancements to existing web-based programs using Struts, GWT, Hibernate and related technologies.
  • Administering critical analysis of test results and delivering solutions to problem areas.
  • Recommending, scheduling, and performing software improvements and upgrades
  • Providing requirements and code review for projects by junior developers
  • Participating in technical discussions with peer developers and providing input into improving existing techniques and methodologies
  • Working with business, client or internal support groups when called upon to work with business partners in various countries and multiple time zones.
  • Some travel may be required
  • Other duties may be assigned

Knowledge and Skills

  • Self-starter and able to work on own initiative with minimal supervision

  • Demonstrates moderate knowledge of hardware, software, networking and telecommunication skills.
  • Working knowledge of SQL and most computer operating systems, especially Unix and Windows.
  • Familiarity with EDI and how companies benefit and use it.
  • An understanding of good development methodologies and programming.
  • Working knowledge of both the supply chain and transportation industry is a plus
Education and/or Experience

  • Experience in warehousing, manufacturing or 3 PL industries preferred
  • B.S. in Computer Science or equivalent experience
  • J2EE – Servlets, JSP, Struts, JDBC, Swing
  • Web and Application Servers –Tomcat 5
  • Java language
  • SQL
  • Frameworks – Struts, Hibernate 2.1, Junit, Ajax, GWT
  • SCM Tools – CVS
  • Sun Java Certified Programmer
  • Software engineering or related field
  • At least 4 years experience in software development
