Perot Systems Corporation is a worldwide provider of information technology services and business solutions to a broad range of clients. We are currently looking for a Java / Workflow Developer to join our team in Mechanicsville, Va..

Job Responsibilities:
Job responsibilities include requirements gathering, analysis, design, development in a distributed systems environment (using Java including JSP), testing, documentation, maintenance, and implementation of new or enhanced software components in support of our client’s business systems. This position requires close interaction and coordination with our client’s business personnel and among team members responsible for numerous applications. Responsibilities for this position also include the preparation of level of effort estimates for system enhancements requested by our client and mentoring or leading other technical team members.

Required Skills:
  • At least 3+ years overall application development experience in distributed systems environments with Java/J2EE.

  • Experience in one or more of the following languages or technologies: .Net (C#), HTML, XSLT, and XML with a good working knowledge of other web development languages and technologies such as ASP, Java, JavaScript, and SQLServer.

  • SQL experience and a thorough understanding of relational databases (preferably SQLServer and Oracle) from an application development perspective.

  • Candidate must understand and be able to modify, design, develop, test, and implement alternative methods (e.g., data access objects, stored procedures, and embedded or dynamic SQL) of interaction between business application software and underlying databases.

  • Candidate must be capable of and have substantial experience working with integrated development environments such as Visual Studio, Eclipse, and/or WebLogic Workshop

  • Candidate must possess excellent written and oral communication skills and be able to work directly with client business personnel to gather and clarify requirements and communicate matters of significant importance.

  • Candidate must also have significant experience in every phase of the Software Development Life Cycle and be able to document requirements, perform analysis, provide design, perform coding, perform unit testing, perform implementation, provide post-production application support, and perform project/task estimation.

  • Candidate must have experience in implementing solutions with architecture design patterns, agile development methodologies, and workflow solutions.


  • Desired Skills:
  • Candidate should have a good understanding of the issues, tools, and procedures related to managing software version control and migration across environments.

  • Exposure or working knowledge of several of the following tools/technologies would be beneficial: Active X, Attachmate, BizTalk, BPM tools, CCF, Citrix, Cobol, Micro Focus Cobol, Cocobase, CRM, DOS Scripting, EJB, development for hand-held wireless devices, MOSS, MQSI, MS Access, Open Span, service-oriented architecture, SharePoint development, SOAP, Struts, Team Foundation Server, UML design, Web Logic, and Workflow tools (Enterworks, Fuego, SharePoint Designer, or other).


  • Minimum Educational Requirements:
  • 4 year college degree preferably in a field related to information systems or computer science or equivalent work experience.


  • Minimum Certifications or Other Professional Credentials:
  • Scrum, Java, MCSD, MCTS, or MCPD certifications would be a plus
