Description
Our client has an opportunity for a Jr. Designer. This Jr. Designer position is an apprentice position and exists to provide support to the Design Department while at the same time gaining valuable industry related knowledge, insight and abilities in order to develop a long term career in the field of interior design. Responsibilities of the Jr. Designer: 60% of time providing direct support to the Design Department • Help the Graphic Designer prepare Design Control Documents by utilizing graphic design software. • Participate in design presentation preparation by getting presentation boards ready, assisting with PowerPoint presentations, organization.• Make copies, keep organized files and utilize company data base to keep department up to date. 40% of time researching the retail design industry by actively evaluating design ideas, trends, procedures and materials. • Develop vendor relations and information which includes phone calls and follow up. • Perform other assignments and/or duties as directed by management. Working Conditions:• Office and manufacturing environments; sitting at a computer; walking through a manufacturing facility.• Limited travel to clients and vendors.• May have to lift objects not more than 20lbs.

Experience/Skills
Essential Skills & Abilities:• Bachelor degree in interior/environmental or architectural or graphic design.• Good knowledge of color• Corel Draw, Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop• Microsoft Office Suite• Ability to produce sketches or renderings.• Creative and innovative• Ambitious, enthusiastic, motivated self starter.• Good written and verbal communication skills including proper phone etiquette. • Exceptional organizational skills • Time management skills• Team oriented, with ability to interact with other departmental teamsNon Essential Skills:• Ability to read blue-prints• Familiar with manufacturing materials as it relates to design.• Knowledge of the construction industry
