Chemical Distribution Company in Houston TX is seeking a Jr. System Administrator for opportunity that can begin immediately.General responsibilities include the following; setting up, configuring, and supporting IT peripherals at the Head office and remote locations. Maintain PC systems, front office applications, security, and network configurations. Provides first and second level technical support and guidance to users. Some degree of creativity and latitude is expected. Reports to the head of IT Operations and may take day-to-day direction from the Senior Network Administrator.Creation and maintenance of user logins and passwords Maintenance, upkeep, and testing of backups Networks support (Network switches, NICs, printer servers, LAN, WAN and Internet) Local server support (Linux, Windows, File servers, Printer servers) Support for desktop hardware/software, remote connectivity Troubleshooting/resolving PC operational and network issues Providing software usage expertise for standard desktop applications and operating systems Train end-users May learn business application and provide support on the local basis Recognizes and identifies potential areas where existing policies and procedures require change, or where new ones need to be developed Review and test systems for conformance to functional and performance requirements Documents issues, activities, and solutions employing industry best practicesJob Responsibilities: * The critical decisions that this position should make. Experience/Skills
Bachelor's Degree in related field (plus)2 + years experience and an extensive familiarity with a variety of the IT field concepts, practices, and procedures.Good analytical and troubleshooting skills, knowledge of: Windows XP, Windows Server 2003, desktop PC, hardware peripherals, Windows Vista, XP, Linux (plus), firewall, VPN. Bilingual in Spanish is (a major plus)Information Technology Certifications are (a plus)
