TITLE: Jr. Systems Administrator DEPARTMENT: Information Systems

REPORTS TO: IS Manager JOB CLASSIFICATION: Non Exempt

Our organization is seeking a Jr. Systems Administrator that ensures the effective use of technology in the organization by managing, operating and maintaining the technology infrastructure. The successful candidate must thrive in a fast paced environment. Must be an organized self-starter, resourceful, work well under heavy pressure, be multi-task oriented with excellent interpersonal skills and work well with a variety of strong personalities.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Responsible for overall day to day operation and maintenance of the organizations Information Systems.
2. Maintain hardware systems and application software on all users PCs, including new installations, version upgrades and patches.
3. Maintain appropriate inventory of equipment and configured hard disks, employing disk imaging; maintain master image disks for standard application set.
4. Manage nightly system backups; confirm successful backups; notify manager of problems; coordinate with off-site tape storage service provider.
5. Consult with manager regarding problems, such as equipment performance, output quality, and maintenance schedules.
6. Help test and evaluate hardware and software to determine efficiently, reliability, and compatibility within existing system.
7. Helps coordinate implementation of, and tests plan to continue establishment IS activities at off-site location in case of emergency, such as fire, earthquake or other catastrophe at main site.
8. Will assist or conduct classes in training workers to operate computer and peripheral equipment.
9. Read manuals, periodicals, and technical reports to learn ways to develop programs that meet user requirements.
Assists the IS Manager:
10. Monitoring and troubleshooting of LAN and WAN system performance and resolving communications and network problems
11. Planning for software and hardware upgrades
12. Perform LAN and Email administration functions
13. Maintaining and implementing continuous review of IT security procedures
14. Ensure conformance with information systems and company objectives

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
1. Good familiarity with Intel-based PC/Server hardware components, and experience in replacing components
2. Ability to work in a high paced, pressurized organization with rapidly shifting priorities. Must be extremely diplomatic in dealing with internal/external concerns on computer operations and/or difficulties.
3. Must be able to explain technical details in laymans language and have adequate knowledge to address needs.
4. Must have good people skills.
5. All aspects of hardware/software as well as peripheral support for printers, scanners and other related equipment.
6. Ability to perform 50% sedentary work, exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and exert negligible force frequently or constantly to move objects, including the body. May be asked to exert up to 50 pounds of force periodically, as needed.
