POSITION SUMMARY: Currently, we have an excellent career opportunity available for a Lan Administrator II at Aon Warranty Group. This position will initially be located in Glenview before relocating to downtown Chicago.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
Provide a high level of customer service
Mentors more junior staff on the complexities of the network and problem solving techniques
Diagnose and resolve complex operating systems, application software, hardware and operator problems
Use structured and systematic approach to gather information and identify problem cause
Understand the urgency of the problem and the impact on the customers
Develop and implement temporary circumventions to be used if immediate resolution is not feasible
Initiate contact with vendors as necessary to resolve problems
Ensure the Help Desk and customer is kept appraised of problem status
Manage assigned LAN(s)
Administers user accounts and shares
Evaluate new hardware and software
Maintain and develop technical knowledge and skills to support the variety of hardware and software in use in the company
Perform administrative duties and participate in department activities as called for
On-call responsibilities
Other responsibilities as assigned or required

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
Two plus years experience providing desktop and network support
MCP certification preferred
Strong knowledge of a LAN/WAN in a Microsoft environment
Customer service skills with the ability to generate confidence in support skills
Competent to work on software issues and problems
Resolves structured, non-specific problems. Able to define workable alternatives and innovative solutions
Clear, concise understandable verbal communications with customers and other IT staff. Can communicate technical information in a non-technical manner. Good written communication skills
Adjusts schedule to manage multiple changing priorities
Ability to learn new technologies rapidly
Strong knowledge of microcomputer hardware, OS and troubleshooting tools
An understanding of OS, network operating systems and standard application software
An understanding of data and LAN wiring and communication protocols

REQUIRED EDUCATION:
Associates degree or equivalent from two year college or technical school; or three to five years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Candidate will be expected to continue upgrading knowledge, skills and abilities to keep abreast of changes in technology
