MIS Manager

Example of Duties and Responsibilities:
Direct management of information system including: insuring network appliances and system environments are current with technology standards. Provide strategic operational direction, guidance and leadership for Network Architecture and Administration. Provide oversight of day to day operations as well as Disaster Recovery solutions.

Qualifications
· BA or masters degree in Computer Science
· 5-10 years experience with Network and IT Management.
· 5 or more years installing and implementing and administration of Network environments.
· Must be organized with outstanding problem solving skills, be task oriented and successfully deliver projects
. Must have strong organizational skills and desire to work in a fast paced environment
· Must have outstanding written and communication skills.
· Ability to articulate and present complex ideas and strategies to executive management
· Must be a team player, and demonstrated ability to work positively with staff.
· Must have Ability to work additional hours as needed.
· Install and maintain 10 servers
· Monitor back up systems
· Required Responsibilities
· Provide leadership with the organization concerning all management
Provide thought leadership and define a vision for expansion and improvement of technology.
· Create detailed development plans for scheduled application upgrades and custom software development projects
· Refine and improve existing software development including adoption of industry standard tools, technologies and methodologies
· Implement IT solutions as deemed critical
· Assess IT marketplace through research and bring best practices to bear on agency
· Recommend key strategies and technologies that would benefit agency

Other duties
· Hardware review, software revisions, patches and ServicePacks.Validate back ups, implement disaster recovery and test and confirm disaster recovery strategies
· Install complex software packages and work with end users to learn system
Purchase IT equipment
· Monitor systems performance and insure critical functions are at peak performance
· Maintain inventory of all technology and equipment
· Monitor health and safety of all network and servers
· Insure all hardware and software is up to date
· Provide pro-active maintenance and support of all agency IT systems and hardware including; Reviewing server logs, system state and internal and external connectivity
· Complete server migrations as needed
Insure and monitor security of all databases and systems
· Maintain PCS, servers and network infrastructures
· Develop replacement plans for new hardware and new software
· Meet with executive management often to review emerging management information needs, including any new technologies relevant and necessary to enrich the functioning of a growing organization.
