BASIC FUNCTION:
Installs, supports, monitors, tests, performs first level problem resolution for all hardware equipment or software issues. Dispatches appropriate vendor for hardware support issues.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
1. Provides hands-on user support, to a diverse and varying knowledge level group, and first level problem resolution for all IT equipment (primarily, but not limited to printers, PC's, monitors, UPS
systems, hubs, switches, routers, media converters, cabling, wireless devices, etc.) and desktop software (Microsoft Windows O/S, Microsoft Office, Hummingbird, etc.).
2. Troubleshoots and repairs faulty hardware, coordinates vendor equipment repairs, creates vendor dispatches using the problem management system and ensures a timely and quality resolution of all
repaired equipment.
3. Daily administration of the LAN (wired/wireless) including system stability, integrity, capacity and troubleshooting.
4. Works with remote support groups to ensure that all desktop software is compliant with company security standards, verifies that vendor software life cycle support is available, installs necessary
firmware updates and performs desktop software upgrades or installations.
5. Performs preventative maintenance on all IT related equipment to prevent hardware life cycle degradation.
6. Performs physically demanding equipment installs and de-installs with varying degrees of height, space, and other logistical difficulties. Maintains asset software management database with equipment inventory.
7. Completes other additional assigned tasks in a timely manner with little to no supervision required.
8. Uses technical writing and effective documentation skills to thoroughly document problem resolutions using the problem management software per department standards, for future troubleshooting
support and historical reference.
9. Performs other related tasks as assigned.

Basic Knowledge:
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and functional knowledge of common desktop software applications (Microsoft O/S, Office, E-mail, Internet Explorer)
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting, and functional knowledge of common desktop hardware (PC's, printers, monitors, keyboards, mice)
  • Understanding of basic wired and wireless networking concepts
  • Installation, configuration, troubleshooting of network related equipment (routers, hubs, switches, media converters, cabling).

    Previous Experience:
  • Minimal to intermediate job related experience, vendor certifications, college degree in related field or combination thereof.

    Required Qualifications:
    Excellent verbal, written and inter-personal skills. Degree or certification in Computer Science or equivalent business experience. High aptitude for systems and advanced computer skills. Ability to train and assist users. Able to work independently with minimal supervision and have the ability to work under pressure in a fast paced environment. Able to access the end users needs and translate them to system development, enhancements and procedures while cognizant of the effect on interfacing systems used. Must be able to lift 50 pounds.df-tc
