Description
This is a great permanent job opportunity with opportunity for advancement. As a LAN Mobile Radio Engineer, you will be responsible for the following: Conduct site survey to determine radio infrastructure and subscriber equipment requirements, cabling schematics, electrical power requirements for radio network equipment, and radio network designs. Provide support in preparing requests for radio communications to support new sites, upgrades, relocations, or cancel radio circuits when facilities are closed. Design equipment configurations for each site that reflects user requirements. Provide support in preparing procurement requisitions for radio infrastructure and subscriber equipment, ensuring proper cost estimates, delivery schedules, and maintenance coverage. Provide cabling and dabbling support; including providing floor plans, layout of equipment, and cabling schematics. Provide support with cost estimates and cabling plans. Notify field points of contact to advise them of equipment orders, delivery schedules and planned installation dates.
Provide support in preparing radio network definitions for all new equipment being installed. Maintain radio network definitions, address information, points of contact, etc. current for all sites. Install and program, as required, radio infrastructure and subscriber equipment, record serial numbers, property asset information, and radio ID information for deployed assets. Provide basic radio operation training to field users during deployment process. Document and inventory equipment and upgrade the CBP database. Analyze, reconfigure or otherwise enhance existing configurations or develop requirements analysis, design, implement, oversee installation and train in the modernization of the most appropriate telecommunications equipment for each Customs site.
Experience/knowledge required: Extensive VHF and Land Mobile Radio Knowledge. Knowledge of Motorola LMR equipment. Ability to work with Cisco routers and understand the basics of TCP/IP. Must be willing to travel 50% to the southern and northern borders of the United States.
