REQUIRED EDUCATION/SKILLS:
BS degree in a computer-related engineering or scientific field.

Technical Skills:
6+ years of network technical experience. Professional Technical Certifications (CCNA, CCNP, NNCSS, etc.) are preferred.

DESIRED SKILLS:
Working knowledge of Cisco network infrastructure equipment. The ability to conduct packet level analysis of LAN/WAN network traffic and appropriately interpret and document the results. Good customer service and communications skills. Familiarity with common LAN and WAN topologies and protocols.

JOB DESCRIPTION: Scope: Provides overall network support for a broad range of programs and customers. Supports the acquisition, installation, configuration, maintenance and usage of the local area network (LAN) and/or wide area network (WAN). Manages daily operations of local and wide area networks within span of control. Acts as initial point of contact for LAN/WAN problems at the site. May propose solutions to management regarding future needs and current usage. Assists in planning for upgrades and replacements for facilities interconnected on a common network. Provides the focal point for coordination of high tiers of maintenance support. Works on problems of complex and diverse scope. Contributes to the development of organization's goals and objectives. Coordinates the activities of a department with responsibility for results in terms of costs, methods used, and possibly employees. May be responsible for the technical direction, leadership, and training of less experienced staff. Ensures project schedules and performance requirements are met. Establishes and recommends changes to policies which affect subordinate organization(s). Regularly interacts with customer and/or functional peer group managers. May interact with senior management. Interactions normally involve matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or customers and the company.df-tc
