GENERAL FUNCTION:
Functions as an expert in network analysis, design or engineering on integrated voice and data applications. Undertakes complex projects requiring additional specialized technical knowledge.
The position is on the Technical/Professional ladder at level 4 in the Network Engineering discipline.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Ensures that system improvements are successfully implemented and monitored to increase efficiency.
2. Establishes and communicates common goals and direction for network engineering team. 3. Supports, troubleshoots, documents and project manages customer network connections. Diagnoses and corrects problems in existing systems.
4. Acts as a resource for direction, training and guidance for less experienced networking and/or other staff.
5. Monitors project schedules and costs.
6. Recommends modifications to configurations that will reduce costs and/or improve service.
7. Meets with prospective customers to determine network configuration for new sales.
8. Purchases equipment under existing agreements.
9. Participates in long-term network design discussions. Assesses emerging network technologies.
10. Creates detailed diagrams of connections and environment
11. Designs, configures, tests and implements connections in a timely and efficient manner.
12. Other duties as required.

Experience/Skills

MINIMUM SKILLS & REQUIREMENTS:




Undergraduate degree, with at 6+ years of experience.


Knowledge and experience with Excel, Visio, Cisco and Checkpoint Firewalls.


CCNA or CCNP certification

Conceptualizes the impact of changes to system platforms as a result of system acquisition, system merger, or implementation of enterprise-wide systems.


Applies quality assurance, testing concepts, and methodologies. Constructs comprehensive test plans based on a thorough understanding of business requirements.


Identifies, and defines problems. Seeks root causes. Develops and implements practical and timely solutions.


Sets and accomplishes challenging goals. Defines standards in terms of doing what is appropriate and doing it well.


Places team needs and priorities above personal needs. Involves others in making decisions that affect them. Draws on the strengths of colleagues and gives credit to others’ contributions and achievements.
