Position Description: "MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
-Conduct New Tool Follow-up on Selected Parts
-Review detailed tool source timing
-Provide accurate completion charts
-Review engineering change impact for cost and timing
-Establish and maintain good business relationships with tool sources
-Assure tool inspection is conducted with satisfactory results
-Review toll capacity per purchase order
-Review tool construction for durability
-Conduct Current Tool Follow-up on Selected Parts
-Review tool maintenance and repair with production source
-Assist production source in resolving tool capability issues
-Review engineering change impact for feasibility, cost and timing
-Assure adequate production tool storage and identification at production sources
-Manage Tool Transfers to and from Production Sources
-Review tool inventory per purchase order
-Conduct tool review with new sources at current source
-Assist new source in required tool conversions
-Assist new source in set-up and tryout
-Conduct Tool Audits and Cancellations
-Review tool costs for open cost charges
-Review tool completion status when cancellations are necessary
-Maintain an inventory of available tool steel for future use
-Cost Awareness
-Actively participate in product cost improvement
-Actively participate in tooling cost improvement
-Initiate cost saving ideas
-Communicate significant issues, concerns, and accomplishments
-Communicate with production buyers on significant issues
-Repair, fix and analyze tools
-Work with the request forms that the buyers send on problem tools
-All requests will filter through this person who will then assign them to the tool analyst
-Go to local meetings when suppliers have issues
-Go to GM platform meetings when there are tooling issues
-May also have to go out to client sites to fix tools
-Keep training log updated
-Assist supervisor in training selected employees
REQUIRED SKILLS/EXPERIENCE
-Minimum of five (5) years experience with tooling
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING
-Bachelor degree or equivalent experience
-Master Degree preferred
