We are also a leading provider of reference and trade publishing for the medical, business, engineering and other professions.    The School Education Group has an opening for a Lead Web Designer  in Columbus, OH .    The Lead Web Designer is responsible for the appearance, usability, and consistency of all web-based products of the Center for Digital Innovation Sustaining Practice and has management responsibility for a team of web designers. This role works closely and collaboratively with other department heads to ensure coordination of timelines and product deliverables and is ultimately responsible for the look and feel of all online products.   Essential Accountabilities: Manages team of web designers. Creates style guidelines for each product, ensures designs are executed consistently and maintained during development by engineering group. Collaborates with other department managers across LGT to ensure timelines and hand-offs are coordinated. Ensures products are usable by target audience; develop prototypes and participate in customer usability and focus group testing; make adjustments to designs as warranted.  Stay current on industry trends and competitor's products; conceive and present to senior management product ideas or ways to improve current offering to stay competitive in the marketplace. Acts as mentor to team members, fostering growth by setting ambitious goals and providing support as needed to ensure goal is obtainable. Manage schedules and budgets to ensure products are delivered on time and within budget. Work with Marketing and Editorial departments to ensure designs meet respective requirements; negotiate agreement or compromise as needed. Inform discussions by applying in-depth knowledge of information architecture. Bachelor's or Master's degree in web design or related field. 10 years experience in web design. 3+ years experience managing a team of web designers. Industry-leading understanding of Information Architecture and Usability. Excellent ability to present and communicate own ideas, argue and defend benefits under scrutiny. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and to meet established deadlines. Proficiency with industry standard tools for web design and HTML coding. Expert knowledge (7 years+) with Adobe Photoshop, BBEdit, HTML, CSS, Javascript The McGraw-Hill Companies is an Equal Opportunity Employer.df-tc
