Irvine Technology is currently seeking a Senior Linux Engineer.

Primary Objective:

Investigate and resolve customer issues related to Linux and the HA Cluster Manager

Accountability/Scope (range of responsibilities):

Respond to critical customer issues

Analyze customer Linux configuration and produce recommended solutions
Develop patches as necessary to Linux or other server software
Work with Red Hat to resolve Linux bugs
Develop software and scripts interface NPS functionality with that of Linux and other server software

Essential Functions/Major Responsibilities:

Ability and willingness to learn new things.
Dealing with customer problems.
Interfacing with support groups and customers.

Experience/Skills
Skills Required:

Comprehensive knowledge of the Linux world. This does not imply deep knowledge in all areas, but more of an understanding as to how things work in Linux.
Basic operating system internals knowledge.
Some knowledge of drivers and loadable modules under Linux.
A solid knowledge of networking- both in terms of how it works and how to configure a network on a Linux system.
Some knowledge of Cisco routers.
Knowledge of C, perl, bash. Position may require code reading and changes.
Knowledge of vi. We dont ship emacs on our systems.
Knowledge of clustering techniques; knowledge of a particular cluster manager used in the Linux world would be a plus.
Some experience with RedHat/Fedora distributions- how RedHat packages their distro, how to use the rpm tool, etc.
Some exposure to databases and sql.
Good verbal and written communication skills.
Good analytical and problem solving capabilities.

2 years working in a high tech environment.
