Description
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:" Recommend alternative solutions to existing software and procedures to support best-of-breed support for high availability, backup and security." Develop key automation tools for streamlining workflow and systems management" Configure and build new Linux images for production and development use. " Develop/maintain procedures to comply with IT best practices. " Maintain documentation of systems configurations and procedures. " Work collaboratively with other systems administration and network staff. " Work collaboratively with development, QA and other administrators to develop and implement improved deployment practices. " Monitor the availability of patches and updates, evaluate the importance to our environment and schedule installations accordingly." Assist users with problem resolution and answer system usage questions. " Work with users to schedule application of patches, software updates and hardware upgrades. " Work with the Business Continuity Team to refine and test disaster recovery systems and procedures. " Monitor system health and resource consumption." Work with hardware and software vendors to resolve hardware outages and software defects." Keep current with latest Linux hardware and software technology, and evaluate technologies as needed. " 7x24 on-call rotation for support of production systemsExperience Required:" Experience administering open-source components including Tomcat /Apache, MySQL, CVS, GCC, gnu, java, SSH, perl modules" Red Hat / RPM experience"NAS/SAN experience a plus. Remote (network) installation, system monitoring experience. "Scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) experience a plusSolaris and/or Oracle experience a plus. Experience with IT best practices.Excellent writing/documentation skillsExperience with Red Hat Satellite Server a plus.Experience with Veritas products a plusExperience designing high availability and DR solutions.
