Description
Unix Administrator to install, maintain, and monitor multiple servers and the applications that run on the servers. This includes operating system and hardware and application installation, monitoring and backups. This position will be responsible for providing 24x7 Unix support on a rotating basis. Must have strong communication skills and prior experience with Solaris systems.

POSITION RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Operating system and application installation.

2. Hardware installation.

3. Patch management

4. Manage security of servers.

5. Monitor servers and applications for errors and performance problems.

6. 4th tier application support.

7. Tune operating system and hardware for optimal performance.

8. Develop scripts for automating routine tasks.

9. Capacity planning and hardware sizing.

10. Planning and implementing disaster recovery and high availability for critical systems

11. General troubleshooting of operating system, hardware, and application problems.

12. Assist in the development and implementation of server standards for all new servers.

13. Assist in the documentation of current and future systems

Experience/Skills
1. Strong UNIX skills, particularly LINUX adn Sun Solaris.

2. Experience with distributed server environments.

3. Ability to parse large amounts of data quickly, using standard utilities such as awk, sed, and grep

4. Script development with bash and/or Perl

5. Minimum eight years system administration experience

6. Experience in a carrier-class ISP environment

7. strong WEB LOGIC required

8. Experience in a high availability environment required

Other desired skills:
