Description

Laboratory Technician-Bioreactor & Cell Culture experience

Location: Berkeley, CA
Duration: 9 to 12 months
Shift: Swing or Nights

DESCRIPTION:
We support daily operations of manufacturing, troubleshoot operation deviations, perform cross-functional root cause investigations, design and execute robustness-improvement projects, and evaluate and implement new technologies for commercial cell culture manufacturing.

The candidates will support and contribute to the development of robust cell culture processes for making therapeutic proteins in mammalian cell culture.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Running scale up roller bottle experiments, operating small scale cell culture bioreactors, collecting harvests, carrying out ultrafiltration operations, and working with Process Sciences and Manufacturing staff on samples and data analysis. The tech will then help develop and test new hypotheses to improve our fundamental understanding of key product quality issues.

These positions will require collaborations and interactions with colleagues across departmental lines. The tech will work as part of a team to support process robustness improvement projects.

REQUIREMENTS:
.*Must me flexible to work swing shift and graveyard shift.*

Minimum of 6 years of recent experience

B.S. or M.S. or Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Molecular Biology, Biochemical Engineering or related field.

Hands-on cell culture experience, familiarity with bioreactor operations, strong GMP background a plus

Knowledge of and proficiency with personal computers and applicable software packages (Microsoft Word, Excel)

Ability to work as part of a team; excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Self-motivated and organized and enjoy scientific investigation. He/she should be able to think and act independently, but also eager to collaborate and work with multidisciplinary groups.

Experience in writing and/or following manufacturing batch records, procedures, protocols, deviation reports, and analyzing process data
