PLANIT Technology Group is currently seeking a CIO/IT Director for a permanent position with our client, a large law firm in the Norfolk/Virginia Beach area

Summary of Position:
Responsible for developing, implementing and managing company wide information systems. Must be adept and effective in evaluating business requirements and leading the organization with information management solutions that support the business. Works directly and proactively with all levels of management, professionals, other users, and vendors to ensure the systems are effective, available, and timely. Skilled in developing strategic direction, operational support, project planning, and execution. Knowledgeable about current technology and technology trends, infrastructure architecture, and applications software, and uses this knowledge to lead the organization's information technology direction. Experienced with managing and directing information technology in a large law firm.

Position Responsibilities:
* Draft and maintain the strategic road map for ensuring the information management and technology capabilities continually support a dynamic organization and can scale quickly with business demands
* Responsible for innovation and leadership in analyzing emerging technologies to determine practicality and strategic value to support the organization's goals and objectives.
* Manage the architecture, implementation and on-going support of the network/server/telecommunications/desktop infrastructure to ensure high-availability and appropriate security.
* Manage network engineering and help desk services staff; responsible for staff development to ensure they continue to meet organizational needs
* Coordinate selection, implementation, and upgrade of enterprise software applications and services
* Create and implement IT policies and procedures, including those for architecture, security, disaster recovery, high availability, etc.
* Work closely with the geographically disbursed offices in designing implementing and supporting the operational platforms they require
* Lead sourcing strategy for all IT products and services and manage vendor activities.
* Responsible for Corporate wide disaster recovery and business continuity

Position Requirements:
* Experience managing IT in a law firm or other professional organization is a must.
* Bachelor's Degree in a business or information systems related field and/or minimum 8+ years experience leading an IT/IS department
* Strong understanding of new capabilities in information technology and an integrated architecture of voice, data, messaging, storage, document management, security, internet, and more
* Strong understanding of virtualization of both servers and desktops
* Strong customer-service orientation with excellent written and oral communication skills
* Highly self-motivated and directed with a proven track record working with senior professionals and executives to execute IT strategy
* Ability to manage and lead a highly effective IT staff; experience with hiring, mentoring, and developing IT engineering and support staff
* Able to develop and manage effective working relationships with other departments/offices with whom work must be coordinated
* Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment
* Strong understanding of business processes and how integrating technology can improve processes
