Lead Applications Systems Analyst


This is an exempt Level II position reporting to the Business Systems Manager. The Lead Applications Systems Analyst is responsible for leading project teams and when required, performs hands on development work at various phases of the project life cycle. The Lead Applications Systems Analyst is considered a technical expert, with the ability to use the technical tool sets used at BIC to build and maintain various applications with a focus on Distribution applications. This position requires strong organizational, planning and communication skills, and the ability to facilitate meetings. The Lead Applications Systems Analyst is responsible for ensuring timeliness of project deliverables, and communicating project status to user and technical management.

Responsibilities:

Creates well organized project plans and effectively communicates proposed project goals and objectives to all levels of user management.
Communicates effectively with users and actively engages them throughout the development life cycle to ensure development activities are on target and meet expectations.
Designs, plans, and coordinates work teams.
Leads project team members, which may include other IT personnel and users.
Technical and application expert providing support to team members.
Investigates, analyzes, designs, develops and implements cost effective solutions to business issues. Uses time, cost, benefit analyses to justify recommendations.
Designs and implements the components required for complex application features.
Develops new features and enhancements and modifies existing applications as required.
May be called upon to supervise project team members on specific project functions.
Ensures quality and accuracy of development efforts by making sure development efforts adhere to standards.
Formulates and ensures that test strategies are executed and that results are analyzed. Develops contingency plans as required.



Qualifications

Seven years experience which includes systems analysis, technical design and programming (RPG, RPGLE) with three years specific experience leading projects.
A working knowledge of distribution systems.
Leadership skills that can energize multidiscipline work teams to respond to business needs.
Excellent presentation and communication skills with the ability to facilitate meetings and report status.
Possess strong people, analytical and system planning skills.
A working knowledge of relational databases and development experience in a multi-platform environment.
Organized and efficient with the ability to ensure compliance with BICs technical standards.
Comfortable working in a fast paced environment with a matrixed reporting structure.
Comfortable working on mixed project teams comprised of incumbent staff and consultants.
Deal effectively with all levels of user management.
Prior experience implementing / supporting Manhattan Associates Warehouse Management applications in a consumer products manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Prior experience implementing ERP systems in a consumer products manufacturing environment is highly desirable.
Requires a Bachelors degree or related experience.
Knowledge of AS/400 required.
Knowledge of JD Edwards OneWorld preferred.
