Description
Prestigious Fortune 500 Company in Indianapolis, IN is currently seeking a Lead Architect. Candidates must have experience with WebServices, J2EE, and Tibco. Any Weblogic or Oracle is a plus. The Lead Architect will manage, document, evaluate, and ensure compliance of the Technical Architecture. The Lead Architect will document changes to the existing architecture, and communicate changes to appropriate IT and Business groups. The Lead Architect will continuously lead the Technology Life-Cycle, evaluate new and emerging technologies, make recommendations, and facilitate activities between Business Units and IT. The Lead Architect will also assist in the evaluation of vendor supplied application development proposals relative to all aspects of the prospective Technical Architecture.

II. RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Provide technical direction by creating a set of Technical Architecture Standards for the clients business and a Technology Roadmap for implementing new technologies and eliminating outdated ones i.e. adapting and refining to meet evolving technologies and business needs.
2. Ensure all projects adhere to architectural standards, using Technical Architecture Standards and Technology Roadmap as the gauge by which adherence is measured.
3. Evaluate, communicate, champion and implement appropriate new and emerging technologies that support business strategies.
4. Act as a steward of technological innovation by establishing and maintaining a set of policies, procedures, standards, and templates to support the technical architecture function.
5. Understand and apply application/integration architectures, strategies and tactics to solve complex problems within stipulated timeframes
6. Assist in the Capital Funding Request process by performing timely architectural evaluations on prospective products and services.
7. Coordinate the documentation and implementation of the Information Systems Technical Architectural Environment.
8. Document and detail the current Technical Architectural Environment.
9. Manage the technology Life-Cycle interacting with all layers of the organization
10. Evaluate new and emerging technologies and recommends Strategic Technical Architectural initiatives.
11. Use business knowledge and technical expertise to provide technical advice and engineering assistance to business customers.
12. Plan for the retirement and removal of inefficient or outdated legacy technologies.
13. Evaluate Technology Procurements
14. Assist in the evaluation of vendor application development proposals relative to all aspects of the Technical Architecture to be utilized.
15. Develop business cost of ownership for technology procurements, including installation costs and continual maintenance costs.

18. Define Processes for common tasks
19. Actively participate in and support the Information Systems Technical Architecture as it relates to Application Systems Development and enforces the standards set.

I. CORE COMPETENCIES:

A. Education:

BS Degree in Computer Science, Engineering. Preferably a MS degree in Computer Science, Engineering

B. Experience:

Minimum of 5 years experience related to the development, implementation, and maintenance of a technical architecture for a business. Preferably 3 years of Energy industry working in an IT related area.

C. Knowledge/Abilities/Skills:

1. Knowledge of:
a. In-depth understanding of Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA) and/or Service-Oriented Infrastructure (SOI) including Web Services and supporting specifications
b. The J2EE platform, reuse strategies and patterns, enterprise wide components and messaging technologies
c. Principles, practices, and administration of technical issues.
d. Familiarity with the following systems:
i. Operating Systems: Solaris, Linux, Cisco IOS, Microsoft Windows 2000, XP
ii. Web Technologies: BEA Weblogic, Apache, JBoss
iii. Internet Technologies: Cisco Hardware, e.g. PIX, VPN, CSS
iv. Hardware: SunFire Servers, including 12k and 15k Enterprise Servers; HP/Compaq Intel se
