Description
LEAD COMPUTER OPERATOR - THIRD SHIFT

This individual is responsible for controlling all data processing batch submissions on UNIX, AS/400, SOLARIS, and LAN systems. Deals with problems related to data processing, tape library, and application abends, which would cause delayed deadlines and postings. Responds to support of all internal client-related problems on all platforms. Monitors the core servers through monitoring tools.

Additional responsibilities include:

Submits daily batch processing, monitors and checks jobs, and distributes reports.
Maintains job flow through the automated job scheduling system.
Performs backups and restores on the Veritas tape backup system.
Identifies and investigates problems, initiates proper corrective procedures, and reports problems and actions taken.
Prepares the tape library for daily rotation of tapes to be sent offsite for multiple platforms.
Assists in coordinating normal workflow, and reviews the daily production schedules for accuracy and efficiency.
Provides ongoing Support Center and technical assistance, including troubleshooting and general problem-solving for all client computer products and applications supported by the firm. Qualified candidates will possess:

Associate's degree in information technology or related field, and four years experience in operation of hardware components, data processing concepts, operating systems, UNIX scripts, tape management, batch processing, application restarts, and report distribution, or the equivalent combination of education and experience is necessary. A Bachelor's degree in information technology is preferred.
Must have good oral and written communications skills.
