GENERAL FUNCTION:


Contributes to overall data architecture strategy and defines appropriate data architecture policies based on the analysis, design and creation of the enterprise data warehouses. Performs detailed historical and proactive analysis of business process to define architecture requirements.


The position is on the Technical/Professional ladder at level 4 in the Data Architecture discipline.


 


DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:


1. Functions as data and technical architect for large-scale, enterprise-wide projects.


2. Evaluates logical and physical data models, creates DB2 objects and analyzes SQL access paths from system and business requirements.


3. Diagnoses, researches and resolves SQL and database-related faults and performance problems.


4. Acts as a high-level technical expert, and mentors less experienced colleagues in addressing data-related problems of systems integration, compatibility and multiple-platform/DBMS integration.


5. Performs feasibility analysis on potential future data implementations.


6. Integrates multi-discipline views on data architecture and maintains appropriate repositories of data model and dataflow diagrams relating to the subject discipline.


7. Develops and communicates project plans, work assignments, target dates and other aspects of assigned projects. Ensures that data projects follow prescribed development life cycle and meet quality standards.


8. Keeps current with database, data modeling and data warehousing trends and technological innovations in order to make appropriate development recommendations.


9. Functions as a technical expert in the design, development, modification and debugging of datamodels, databases, etc.


10. Advises technology architects on database subjects appropriate for supporting lines of business and enterprise architectural strategies.


11. Other duties as required.

Experience/Skills


MINIMUM KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

Undergraduate degree and MS, with 5-10 years of experience.In-depth knowledge of relational or OO DBs or data warehousing.

Must Haves:



Strong data modeling and/or data warehousing experience.



Strong DB2/ZOS knowledge and experience.



Strong SQL skills.



Knowledge and experience surrounding banking business processes and applications.



Proven ability to develop an effective approach to problem solving and decision making with minimal supervision.



Proven ability to work under strict deadlines while handling multiple priorities.



 



Nice to Have:



Ascential toolset experience (or similar ETL tool).



JCL understanding or experience.



Business Objects toolset experience (or similar BI reporting tool).



Erwin toolset experience (or similar Data Modeling tool).



Mainframe system tools experience (such as TSO, BMC, TWS)



Project management experience (data requirement gathering/analysis, technical spec writing, etc).
