Description
Our client in Orange County is seeking an application lead developer who will be responsible for the development of an In House application, which is used to service customer requests, and other related systems. This position will be responsible for working within a team environment to design, develop, deploy, enhance, and support various systems build on the latest technologies.

Principal Responsibilities

- Lead design efforts to support functional specification requirements.

- Implement framework and designs that meet or exceed business requirements.

- Mentor developers on OOAD principles and design practices

- Work closely with management, business system analysts, developers, QA, data analysts, system administrators, and users.

-Participate/lead code integration efforts.

- Provide timely and accurate status to team leads and project managers.

- Identify and communicate project risks and recommend solutions.

- Identify/recommend additional application enhancement possibilities.

-Provide application production support/site monitoring/ongoing maintenance to ensure that the applications are available for users.

- Evaluate and act on feedback to maintain/improve application performance, stability, portability, and scalability.


Required Competencies

- Experience with software engineering disciplines including analysis, design, development, and testing in a structured application development environment.

- Must possess excellent organization, presentation, and written communication skills

- Ability to communicate effectively with both business and technical staff and to convey complex ideas both verbally and in written form.

- Ability to work at a detailed level while maintaining and retaining the 'big picture' of the overall system design.

- Ability to translate detailed functional specifications into quality code.

- Demonstrate aptitude for learning new concepts and technologies.

- Must possess excellent problem solving and decision making skills.

- Excellent interpersonal skills - needed in working with customers and various levels of staff.

- Must possess excellent organization, presentation, and written communication skills.

- Proactive and takes the initiative to improve work processes, policies, products and services.

- Works well in a team environment, thinks creatively, and is willing to present new ideas to the project team.

- Proficient in the architecture and development of a multi-tier distributed high performing web based application.

- Proficient in code design and tools including object oriented techniques, UML, and design patterns.

- Proficient in Java, JSP, Servlets, HTML, EJB, XML, and JavaScript

Desirable, but not Required Skills:

- Experience developing for the Unix operating system, AIX preferred

- Experience with IBM HTTP Server (IHS) & WebSphere Application Server (WAS)

- Experience with WebSphere Studio Application Developer (WSAD)

- Experience working with a RDBMS, preferably UDB

- Sun Java Developer certified

- Individual Life Insurance, Financial Services, Contact Center, and/or Customer Relationship Management knowledge is a plus.
