Position Description
As a member on the BMDS National Team, the selected candidate will conduct technical analyses of existing and potential Ballistic Missile Defense System (BMDS) elements and architectures in support of the definition and development of overall system requirements and required component functionalities. Initial emphasis will be on the MKV and quantification of its counter countermeasure capability. Uses, develops and refines MATLAB based system level models and simulations. Provides technical leadership for teams of 2-4 analysts. Coordinates with functional working group leads, other task leads, and government offices. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Strong technical background in missile defense and systems engineering of large, complex weapon systems. Experience or working knowledge of the development of analytical tools and numerical modeling of complex systems using MATLAB or a similar computing environment. Strong communication skills, with proven ability to provide management with technical briefings. Must have study lead experience with teams of at least 2-4 analysts. SECRET security clearance. Applies an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop and verify complex lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions. Evaluates customer/operational needs to define and coordinate system performance requirements, integrate technical parameters and assure compatibility of all physical, functional and program interfaces. Performs various analyses to optimize total system of systems and/or system architecture. Performs analyses for safety, reliability, maintainability, testability, human systems integration, survivability, vulnerability, susceptibility, system security, regulatory, certification, product assurance and other specialties quality factors into a preferred configuration to ensure mission success. Develops, maintains and identifies improvements for the planning, organization, implementation and monitoring of requirements management processes, tools, risk, issues, opportunity management and technology readiness assessment processes. Resolves cross-functional technical issues. Works under minimal direction.

Education and/or Experience

Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard. Level 4 - Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
