Description
Assist a large government agency by helping them in a designer capacity. This involves designing and building new sections of their website. This position also is responsible for taking pre-existing substandard coding and performing the necessary modifications to achieve desired results. Also involved is redesigning currently existing material. Oracle, PHP, Unix based application development adapting CSS/XHTML templates to dynamic applications. Some database design and implementation. Content Management System development and maintenance Unix Systems administration. Design and build sections of the LOC website from scratch. Design and build sections of the LOC website from a pre-existing look and feel. Completely redesign pre-existing sections of the LOC to make them more functional or more aesthetically appealing. Create mock up images of how the website will look for approval.

Experience/Skills
A bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field with 7-9 years of experience. Expert knowledge of web-related technologies including: PHP, Oracle, XHTML, CSS, SQL, Unix (Solaris & AIX Preferred) Mastery of browser and platform compatibility issues. Experience developing and managing Templates in a Content Management System (Interwoven Teamsite experience preferred, but not required.) Additional programming experience (Flash, PERL, JSP, Cold Fusion, PL/SQL) preferred. Ability to use technology to make the design implementation more efficient ability to provide technology and architecture recommendations. Also have the ability to manipulate images to convey how a site will look when it is complete, as a presentation for the approval process. How to take ideas portrayed in words and develop them into visual representations.
