Description
CDI IT Solutions currently has a one year contract to hire opportunity for a premier client in Valley Forge, PA for a Legacy Programmer III. The primary responsibilities for this position will be to participate in and adhere to all phases of the systems development life cycle including analysis, functional and technical specifications, design (application and relational database), coding, testing, deployment/implementation and production support. This person will work closely with Business Clients and Subject Matter Experts to provide effective technical solutions, and should work autonomously on complex programming tasks. The candidate must be able to establish and maintain excellent, professional customer relationships and must possess excellent communication skills. Strong analytical, coding and debugging skills are also required. Eligible candidates must maintain and enhance knowledge of programming languages, file structures and access methods; must be willing to learn new technologies as required to support the Pharmacy Systems. The position requires frequent interaction with clients, project team leaders, project members and ISD management.

Job Responsibilities:
- Analyze requirements to design, develop, validate, maintain and document structured programs and systems for Pharmacy related applications using appropriate company technologies while conforming to company coding standards.

- Design and develop the intermediate to complex components of systems, particularly sequel code, etc. to meet the functional specifications. More emphasis should be given towards integrating various Mainframe technologies to create a total solution.

- Address day-to-day problems or questions related to production applications. Analyze problems, provide solutions and document activities using company standards.

- Assist in technical relational database design.

- Coordinate activities through junior team members for project deliverables.
- Demonstrates to customer, end product describing conditions of use and operational capabilities and limitations.
- Contributes to the development of cost estimates. Conducts design reviews as required.

Qualifications:

- Bachelors’ degree or formal education in Mathematics, Computer Science or Business Administration or equivalent experience.
- Minimum of five years programming and design in company’s mainframe.
- Exposure to high-level languages (COBOL, etc) in a multi-server computing environment using relational database management systems.
- Exposure to JCL & Data Manipulation Utilities (like SQL, FILE-AID & INSYNC).
- Expert programming skills in COBOL/DB2 & PL/SQL, Eztrieve and Sort is required.
- Experience with Data Architecture /Modeling work is a plus.
- Pharmacy business knowledge or experience with Pharmacy technical solutions is a plus.
