Job Description The Linux System Administrator supports the LINUX software systems platforms. The primary objective is to assure reliable and predictable performance of all mission critical systems in support of corporate banking and finance operations. The corporate computing resources include high reliability, networked, database servers in a distributed LINUX environment utilizing storage available through locally attached and network available disk storage. Duties: * Design, configure and tune high availability systems. * Identify and resolve capacity, contention, and resource deficiencies to support corporate processing requirements. * Provide second/third level LINUX software support to the LINUX developers group during normal working hours. * Investigate and determine the requirements for all new and replacement Unix machines * Maintain the currency of all software patches and operating system patches of all Unix machines. * Document and maintain the body of Unix production and development systems. * Provide advice and guidance to the development community early in the development cycle to design supportability into new and/or revised applications. * Roll out new applications and upgrades developed by the internal development organizations. * Support third party applications products used in support of corporate mission critical systems. 4. Technology detail A minimum of 2 two years experience administrating a Storage Area Network (SAN). * Experience with large installations. * Networking Skills * Large scale deployments. * Knowledge of local and wide area networking protocols including TCP/IP. * Scripting experience with PERL, BASH, PYTHON, or RUBY. Requirements:

Linux sys admin with scripting experience. This is more like an automation engineer than a typical sys admin role. They have 2 sys admins on site adn there's a lot of restore and repair work. Scripting is a must b/c there is a development role involved. Specifically, PERL, RUBIE, PYTHON... (MUST be strong (8/10) in Perl and or Rubie & Pythong ? please ask your candidate about these skills.) He would like an individual who has a computer science degree. Experience with JAVA would be a plus. The database they are on is DB2. Needs exp with relatively large installantions as in 200-300 servers. SUS Enterprise LINUX and Power PC machines.df-tc
