Linux Administrator/ Configuration EngineerLocation: Fremont, CAJob Description:Skills: Linux ProgrammingLINUX CONFIGURATION ENGINEERThis is a senior engineering position involving the design and construction of custom Linux software distributions to support clients Internet communications products. The position requires intimate knowledge of Linux system internals and administration, solid team working skills and excellent written and oral communication. You will be a core member of a team that is on the leading edge of embedded systems development at client site.This position is for a senior Linux configuration engineer who will be responsible for all aspects related to configuring custom Linux distribution packages and providing automated build/test infrastructure integration. You will work closely with SW engineering to select appropriate system software packages to support rich Internet-enabled application development frameworks. The ability to bring up a Linux system from scratch including laying file systems, tuning kernel compilation for various hardware platforms and installing all necessary dependencies is a must. Your knowledge of version control systems, shell scripting and make systems will be key to ensuring that all released products are built on a reliable, robust and extensible automation infrastructure that you will put in place.SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:System Administration: (Kickstart, GRUB/U-Boot, initd, ext2 management, headless operation)Programming: Must have a solid understanding of native compiled application development under Linux using GCC toolchains for x86 and ARM9. Scripting: (Bourne Shell, PERL, Python, init, Autoconf/Automake, GNU make, RPM/APT)VCS: (CVS, SVN, GIT, Bazaar) Surround SCM & VSS a pludf-tc
