Description
Robert Half Technology is assisting one of our clients in their search for a Senior Systems Engineer. The high level Engineer will be responsible for providing senior level expertise regarding the enterprises overall systems architecture. This exciting opportunity involves designing and implementing solutions requiring integration of multiple platforms, operating systems and applications across the enterprise.

The roles and responsibilities of the Senior Systems Engineer are as follows:
  • Review, advise and designs standard software and hardware builds, system options, risks, costs vs. benefits and impact on the enterprise business process and goals.
  • Help define, develop and roadmap the strategy for stateless self-organized systems and server consolidation
  • Project work to include providing estimates, creating project plans and managing pieces of complex projects; overseeing small to medium sized projects
  • Setup and maintain server computing equipment within a VMWare, Linux, and Oracle Environment.
  • Maintain the highest level of availability, reliability and performance for VMWare and associated products
  • Setup and maintain server & lab equipment including Windows, Linux, NetApp NAS, and fiber channel SAN.
  • Setup & maintain VMWare machines with images for all supported product OS's.
  • Define comprehensive automation for VMWare, including creating scripts for recurring system tasks
  • Provide training to other engineers
The highly skilled candidate will have a Bachelors degree or equivalent experience plus a minimum of 7+ years technical experience in infrastructure environment. The candidate will also have seven plus years of performing systems planning, architecture design, and engineering. RHCE (Red Hat Certified Engineer) Certification is required.

Working knowledge of Network Appliance (NetApp) storage solutions and Brocade FC Switches would be very beneficial. VMWare and operating system certification is a plus but not required. Knowledge of Microsoft Cluster Services, Oracle 10g, Oracle RAC are also beneficial.Server performance monitoring, and kernel tuning for high performance application would be helpful.
