xScion Solutions, LLC is a leading IT professional services firm in the Washington, DC area supporting firms with their consulting and permanent hiring needs. We are currently seeking an experienced LINUX SYSTEM ADMINISTRATOR to work for a well-funded start-up venture offering a futures exchange for electric power.

NOTE: Candidates must be local to the Washington, DC area and have US work authorization - US Citizenship, Green Card or EAD as our client does not provide visa sponsorship at this time. No exceptions.

JOB OVERVIEW:
New financial exchange seeks an intelligent, articulate, and skilled technologist to join this growing, dynamic, collegial and high-performing organization. This hire will support the Manager of Technology Operations both on the exchange platform itself as well as internal technology needs, issues, and opportunities. Some key activities for this hire will be monitoring and maintaining internal virtual infrastructure, configuring new equipment, developing monitoring tools and procedures for production platform, testing and troubleshooting production platform.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- BS or higher degree in a related field (e.g., Computer Science)
- Mastery of LINUX administration in production
- Experience in network configuration and troubleshooting
- Some comfort with build and deployment scripting

DESIRED SKILLS:
- Experience with Xen hypervisor virtualization system
- Experience with VMWare virtualization system
- Experience configuring and troubleshooting Mac OS
- Experience working with custom development projects
- Some understanding of the Java programming language
- Some experience with object-oriented patternsdf-tc
