Description
One of our clients located in Cambridge, MA is looking for a full time Linux System Administrator.

Principle Duties and Responsibilities:

Configure system and network parameters
Monitor system stability and performance
Help develop tools to monitor and maintain systems
Ensure 24x7 operation
Rapidly scale systems to meet demand
Assist with desktop support including, laptop configuration, network administration, phone set-up.
Provide software maintenance (updates, installation, security patches)
Maintain system backup procedures
Manage user accounts (creation, deletion, modifications)
Write comprehensive documentation

Experience/Skills
Position requires a Bachelors degree (B.A. or B.S.) from a Four-Year College or University; or equivalent combination of both education and experience. Computer Science Degree a plus.
5 + years of LINUX system administration experience
Proven large-scale distributed application deployment and management using Tomcat/Apache
Previous experience in a high availability 24/7 service-oriented datacenter
Strong networking skills including DNS, network segmentation, firewalls, intrusion detection, and content-based load distribution
Knowledge of monitoring components such as SNMP, SNMP traps, and JMX
Programming/scripting ability (bourne, bash, perl, python, C)
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
Solid Customer Service skills
