A large New York based Global Investment bank are looking for a highly experienced System Engineer specialising in Linux. The execution platform handles connectivity to the exchanges, automated trading, post-trade feed processing, position and PnL reporting and interaction with downstream systems. This position entails working directly with the traders and a small development team to build out and support a production Linux environment.

Responsibilities include:

• Ensuring the production environment is properly monitored by either writing custom scripts or working with other groups to ensure nagios and other 3rd party solutions are in place.
• Evaluate, build out, tune a messaging Middleware
• Work with SAs to tune OS for maximum performance
• Write custom scripts to facilitate an automated deployment of new versions of software across the linux environment
• Track outages until resolution
• Setting up and configuring of a test environment

Essential Technical Skills:

• Knowledgeable in Scripting languages such as bash and perl.
• Knowledgeable in SUSE Linux environments
• Knowledgeable in tuning environments for performance for low latency
