Description

The System Administrator II:
Performs administration of redhat and/or Microsoft/IIS based machines in a large managed hosting environment.
Ability to troubleshoot and resolve customer s issue in a production environment
Analyzes errors and logs
Assists in policing our Acceptable use policies (spam, illegal pornography, warez, eggdrop bots) and escalates issues to the Abuse Team
Troubleshoots and analyzes cause of performance problems
Ability to trouble-shoot complex application-level problems independently
Exercises judgment using procedures and best practices to determine appropriate problem resolution
Other duties and tasks as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
System Administrator II must demonstrate the following:
Experience (S.A.) -- 2-4 years
Operating System -- Intermediate knowledge and use of Windows or redhat
Knowledge of commands/utilities including but not limited to IIS, FTP, telnet, SMTP, POP, IMAP
Familiarity with basic system administration tools and processes
Experience with maintaining, configuring, and troubleshooting redhat 7.2 through ES5 servers
General knowledge of multiple programming languages with proficiency in at least one high level Scripting language (Perl, Ruby, PHP, ColdFusion, .NET)
Working knowledge in Mail Server applications using SMTP/POP3/IMAP such as MailEnable, and/or Qmail, and/or Sendmail
Ability to troubleshoot basic networking issues using traceroutes, etc.
Ability to troubleshoot Hardware firewalls, and VPN.
Has a solid understanding of Intel-based server hardware, including RAID configuration.
Significant work experience with the following:
Redhat ES3, ES4 and ES5: Apache, FTP, DNS, basic permissions, conf files and cron tasks.
Solid understanding of DNS Record types, resolution process, troubleshooting.
Ability to duplicate the customer s issue and document, troubleshoot and document, Resolve and document the resolution at a level the customer can understand.
The following certifications and/or education are a bonus: Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. MCP, MCSE, redhat, or comparable certification.
