Description
Our Client, in La Jolla, California, is currently seeking a Sr. Solaris/Linux Systems Administrator. The person in this position will provide operating-system level administration for the Linux and Solaris systems used by the Institute’s administrative departments, and will contribute to design and support of all campus IT infrastructure including mail, web, archival storage and networking services. Must have a broad background in system integration, application level support, and web-based systems.The ideal candidate will have experience with Solaris 8/9/10, system tuning experience, and deep knowledge of RHEL, (Red Hat Linux) system administration. Veritas netbackup, Windows/Mac experience, San/Storage experience, and web-based application development (LAMP) are a plus.Must have supported the integration of Windows and Macintosh in large (500+) user environments where system and application scaling issues become apparent. Excellent customer service, written and verbal communication skills are essential. Strong preference for candidates with a four year university degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field -- or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of a degree.
