Description
Our East Bay client is looking for a mid- to senior-level Linux Administrator to assist with troubleshooting problems related to web applications running on Linux servers, and their interactions. The ideal candidate must be able to write scripts and tools to improve existing system administration procedures, develop systems to automate and stabilize the process of applying code updates to production servers, and improve existing monitoring systems while developing integration tools for them. This role also requires assisting in determining the hardware requirements for new applications, deploying weekly code updates during off-hours and maintaining and creating documentation for applications and processes.

Experience/Skills
To be considered for this opportunity, you must have a 3+ years experience administering Linux servers, TCP/IP networking, firewalls/security, DNS, and network traffic analysis. Must have hands-on experience with web server applications (Apache, and Tomcat), proxy server applications (Squid), and database applications (MySQL, MS SQL Server). Ability to use security technologies (SSL, certificates, and PKI), and markup languages (XML, XSL, and HTML) and programming/scripting ability (bash, Perl, batch, and awk) is required. Web application scripting ability (PHP, Python, or Perl) is a must.
