Linux Systems Administrator –


A very successful client of ours is looking for a highly skilled IT / Ops System Administrator to work with our CTO to play a key role in the administration/management of a large, data-driven website.

The ideal candidate for this position will be a Senior Linux Systems Administrator with a successful track record owning and managing a highly-available, high-transaction production area (e.g. Hosting Infrastructure or Backup Strategy) and to proactively define, improve, and manage the needs of the environment.

Responsibilities include:


·


Day-to-day operations management, troubleshooting, and configuration of data center servers, large and distributed Linux (CentOS) applications, and cluster management systems (Hadoop)

·


Server installs and general maintenance of the data center servers (patch management, security, hot fixes, etc.)

·


Troubleshooting performance issues and implementing automation as needed

·


Establish and recommend policies on architecture and systems based on best practices

·


Design and implement systems infrastructure for new services

·


Assist MySQL DBA on some related projects

Qualifications:


·


4+ years experience working as a Linux administrator in a data center (and/or load-balanced web farm) environment as well as solid experience working with physical storage in a high I/O environment

·


Strong understanding of NFS, DNS, SMTP, HTTP, LDAP, DHCP, SMTP, SSL, and TCP/IP

·


Strong interpersonal and communication skills; capable of training users in applications and operating system fundamentals, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to peers, working with upper management and writing extensive documentation.

·


Good scripting skills (Perl, Ruby, Python, shell, etc.)

·


Experience with cluster management systems is a strong plus

·


Recent experience with virtualization technologies is a strong plus

·


Previous experience working with MySQL is a strong plus

·


Familiarity with source control tools such as CVS, SVN

·


BS in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, EE, CIS, or a related field
