JOB PURPOSE: Provide network expertise, problem-resolution, training and other support services to staff and enhance their abilities to perform their jobs better by making more proficient use of information technologies.ESSENTIAL/ KEY RESPONSIBILITY AREAS: Systems Management· Designs, builds and manages upgrades of servers, directory structures, database servers, system and user rights, user environments, security, software and files services.· Advanced network systems troubleshooting to isolate and diagnose network problems. Analyze and resolve server and network hardware, software and connectivity issues.· Responsible for the general routing, switching and security of the LANs.· Ability to monitor and regulate server storage space, systems backup, monitor server performance and tune the network to achieve optimum performance. Assist in capacity planning (analysis and projections) to optimize system performance.· Responsible for maintaining documentation for existing and new processes, circuits and data center topology.· Research new technologies and present their benefits to IS management.· Develop and maintain system scripts.· Support corporate intranet· Provide support to other IS staff and functions, including wiring, data processing, desktop troubleshooting, on a rotating and as needed basis.df-tc

Experience/Skills
QUALIFICATIONS:· Three years experience of direct hands on experience in networking and system administration of Linux Servers is required.· Experience with multiple Linux server deployments.· Experience with Linux clustering techniques preferred.· Five years experience with Microsoft applications.· Experience using Novell Netware servers preferred.· Associate’s degree plus four (4) years progressively responsible experience in an office environment, or Bachelor’s degree plus two years (2) experience.· Server or manufacturer certifications a plus.SKILLS and COMPETENCIES:Technical Skills:· Background in mission-critical production environments· Scripting languages such as Perl, CGI, and shell· Experience with network securityCognitive/Conceptual/Reasoning/Decision Making Skills:· Monitors progress on multiple projects on diverse timelines, with numerous milestones.· Uses judgment to assimilate and assess information and make quick decisions.We use a variety of databases. With the two main being Oracle and MySQL. The SQL developer would be working mostly in MySQL.The SQL development is difficult and we need someone that does not rely on wizards and can work with complex data structures. Most of the people I have spoken to have been reluctant to focus on open source technologies. Anyone who has Java or PHP experience can usually handle the more complex SQL development.
