Description
Robert Half Technology is currently recruiting for an experienced Linux Systems Tester for a long term consulting project in Manhattan. Our client is an extremely innovative start up that is looking to add to its successful team. Qualified applicants will have worked with hardware before (an embedded device), and MUST know Linux (we are running Poky now). The right candidate will focus on hardware and system level testing - of course they will be technically inclined, curious, a strong problem solver, highly organized and detail-oriented, and have strong communication skills.Responsibilities:• Develop and execute test scripts on a Linux platform • Test Operating Systems (familiarity with Open Embedded Linux distributions, Open Embedded, Buildroot, Scratchbox....)• Test API's and drivers at a low level (in addition to functional and user level testing)• Collaborate with product management and engineering teams to develop a comprehensive set of tests for our software development kit and integration with hardware. • Work with users to reproduce defects, log proper defect reports, and troubleshoot• Collaborate with engineering to validate defects and provide detailed information to assist with development fixes• Assist product and engineering teams to define requirements• Analyze failed tests and manage defects using the bug reporting tool • Perform extensive functional, integration, and UI testing * Work with open source communities and external individuals to identify and classify external defectsSkills:* proven experience testing a linux-based device or computer using open source technologies. Must be able to demonstrate deep understanding of system and describe in details issues that were encountered and resolved.* deep familiarity with an open source linux distribution• Strong knowledge of automated testing tools and techniques• 1-3 years testing hardware• 3 or more years experience testing database driven web applications • 3 or more years experience writing automated tests• Solid experience writing test cases and test plans• Experience with open-source testing tools• Proven ability to plan and implement reliability activities from product concept throughout the product life cycle. • Experience planning and implementing robustness and hardware reliability testing.
