Description
Prestigious Proprietary Trading Firm, located in the Chicago Loop, is currently seeking a Linux Trading Systems Support Administrator. Candidate will be responsible for supporting trading systems for a Chicago based proprietary trading company, and will be a backup Linux administrator. This individual should have prior experience supporting trade execution systems in a Linux or Unix environment.

Responsibilities

  • Install, support and troubleshoot ISV and proprietary trading applications.
  • Provide backup coverage for Linux system administration issues.
  • Monitor execution systems to facilitate high frequency - low latency electronic trading.
  • Develop scripts for monitoring applications, extracting data from application logs and reporting performance
  • Work with exchanges to deploy new services and resolve technical issues.
  • Escalation point for the trade desk in resolving desktop and application related incidents.
  • Work with trading groups and developers to resolve intra-day technology issues.
  • Work with developers and systems engineers to test, debug, and deploy new software solutions.
  • Document systems/infrastructure changes and additions.
  • Perform related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Two or more years experience supporting trading execution systems is required.
  • Administrative level knowledge of Linux, preferably including Red Hat Linux.
  • Demonstrated experience in automating and monitoring systems with Perl, Python or C++ including ability to write SQL queries.
  • Solid understanding of the functions of the capital markets, including market data, execution, and clearing. Experience with Exchange API's and working knowledge of the FIX protocol.
  • Experience supporting a high-frequency trading desk is desirable
  • Intermediate knowledge of desktop productivity tools such as Excel and Visio.
  • Self motivated, self starter with the ability to follow directions and complete tasks with little supervision and the ability to effectively multi-task.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills, and strong critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Education

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or other technical field is preferred
