Description
Dataline Consulting Services is currently looking for a Linux/Windows Network Engineer to assist a client of ours who is a large retail chain headquarted in Chesapeake, VA. This is to be a six month contract-to-hire opportunity.

Position Responsibilities:
* Provide detailed and advanced technical advice and guidance for Linux and Windows Operating systems.
* Participate in problem solving and troubleshooting for the Linux and Windows environments and related applications.
* Participates in and may lead projects to implement or enhance IT services.
* Participate in functional test planning and testing for the Linux and Windows environments and related applications.
* Research and implement new technologies to improve the Linux and Windows environment.
* Ensure servers meet proper performance and capacity standards.
* Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of the Linux and Windows environments and related applications.

Required Skills:
* At least four years of Linux/UNIX system administration (design, implementation, management, and troubleshooting).
* At least two years of Windows systems administration.
* An advanced understanding of systems security, hardening, and penetration testing.
* A strong understanding of wireless technologies.
* General networking skills (TCP, SSL, HTTP, SSH ).
* Must be proficient in authoring and contributing to technical design documents.
* Proficient in server based performance and capacity planning.
* Root cause analysis skills.
* Strong team work and communication skills.

Preferred Skills:
* Experience with Red Hat Enterprise
* LDAP, particularly iPlant Directory Server
* Microsoft Windows 2003 Active Directory
* Experience with MySQL and Microsoft SQL
* Experience with VMWare Infrastructure
* Experience with UNIX shell scripting.
