Low Latency Network Engineer - IP Networks - MPLS - VLAN -

*This is a contract position with a possible conversion to full time*

What you need for this position:

BS degree in computer science or related technical field.
At least 5 years experience designing, implementing and maintaining IP Networks in an enterprise environment.
At least 5 years experience supporting high-availability production systems.
Thorough understanding of common networking protocols from layer 1 to layer 4.
Track record of successfully applying MPLS/VLAN/BGP/PIM in high availability multicast environments.
Solid understanding of Unix/Linux/Darwin systems administration.
Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex projects and execute against an aggressive timeline.
Logical, structured thinker with good problem-solving skills.
Ability to communicate clearly and professionally via both written and spoken media.

Additional Desired Skills:

CCIE or equivalent designation.
Understanding of time distribution systems and scalable microsecond synchronization strategies.
Strong python, Perl, Shell or other Scripting language abilities.
Virtualization and clustering HA architecture and deployment experience.
Experience with advanced networking technologies such as 10 Gigabit Ethernet, Infiniband, RDMA, Kernel-bypass, etc.
Understanding of financial services with emphasis on high-frequency trading.
Experience with centralized application configuration management systems.
Understanding of structured data concepts including RDBMS/SQL and/or XML.
Backup/archival systems experience.
Experience with SNMP or other network management systems.
Low-latency application development experience in C++ and/or Java.
Open source experience.
Experience working in a start-up.

What you'll be doing:

Build the infrastructure for our ultra-low latency analytics and data distribution platform.
Work with a team of application developers, equipment vendors, service providers and clients to design, build and manage the firm's distributed computing and communications infrastructure.
Hardware evaluation, collaboration with application developers on overall platform design, LAN and WAN configuration, server administration, deployment and configuration management and interfacing with data centers and cloud-based service providers.
Organize complex projects with multiple stakeholders.
