Primary Purpose:The Desktop Support Technician will be responsible for providing technical support to end users, installing and maintaining microcomputer hardware and software in a mixed PC/Mac environment. 1 -3 years experience supporting and troubleshooting PCs, operating system software, and LAN connectivity. Installs, upgrades and configures desktop computers, desktop applications, network connectivity, remote connectivity. Areas of Responsibility:Network Administration Dutiesa.Create and maintain local user accounts.b.Create and maintain local network printing services.c.Proactively monitor and perform all local server trouble-shooting and third party maintenance.d.Provide support for all local servers integrating.e.Monitor performance and data load distribution of network servers.f.Perform nightly backups of servers while administering a scheduled rotation of tapes both on and off-site.g.Maintain an event log (or database), which can generate statistics listing: nightly status of backups, addition of users, deletion of user, departments, problem logs (through call tracking system), usage statistics, etc.h.Adhere to and enforce Firm network usage standards plus policies regarding the use of non-standard or illegal software.i.Administer virus protection via Norman VirusScan, desktop security as defined by Active Directory Group Policy and LAN analysis/management utilities for all local and remote servers and desktops.Remain current on developments in microcomputer desktop and network hardware/software offerings.Monitor nightly status of backups, addition of users, deletion of users, departments, problem areas, usage statistics, etc.Provide assistance to team members where needed.Provides users with network and desktop technical support.
